Dream Hawaii & 9/11 2.0

Hello dear friends – A longer than usual post – so sorry (still, all in 3 min).

Today I start out with a quote:

“It is your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself, that determines how your lifes’s story will develop.” – Dieter Uchtdorf

So true I believe.

So what to make of all of this…. on 3/29/2020, day 9 Chicago lock-down? Like you, I have read alot about COVID-19 but I seem to get more confused the more I try to learn. Here is what I know & believe:

  • We are dealing with imperfect/uncertain information on the virus which inevitably leads to imperfect/non-ideal decisions. Unfortunately, we are in “ready, fire, aim” mode vs. the much preferred “ready, aim, fire” way of doing things. Unavoidable during this first go-around.
  • We got to skew our decisions towards lives over livelihoods while still not committing TOTAL HARAKIRI to the economy. This is a tough rope to walk and I don’t envy the politicians. Remember – another great depression is not good public health policy either.
  • This reminds me of 9/11 in that it came out of know where, we were not ready, and we learned from it and WERE ready for future terrorist attacks going forward. AND…our lives changed somewhat as a result.

Sound familiar? My conclusion is we will survive Corona and will come out of this a stronger, wiser, and more prepared country. Just like after 9/11…

“It is your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself, that determines how your lifes’s story will develop.” This goes for countries also.

Some new realities:

Who knew ? My wife the bank robber.

And another consequence – this is how I am putting on my COVID-19…just like the “freshman-15” when I started in college…Tu entiendes?

And finally…repeat after me – this too will pass – and to think 3 weeks ago I was in Hawaii. I am dreaming Hawaii now…and knowing I will be back. Check out the video below and dream with me:

Aloha for now.
